ITS 1st Generation ESD Systems
In 1983, prior to Tim
McGuinness joining ITS, ITS introduced it's first generation ESD terminal.
This was a marginal design, and a clear copy of the ROMOX approach.
It was originally developed by a contractor in Modesto, California.
The System was designed to be operated by retail store staff only, and
supported: Cartridges, Cassettes, and Floppy Discs (though only cassette
duplication was functional).
Upon joining ITS, Tim
McGuinness took control of development management and redesigned the User
Interface and directed the contract developers to successful
implementation of floppy disc recording. While the system was also
capable of programming ROMOX branded ECPC Cartridges - ITS management
decided to attempt development of a non-infringing cartridge format of its
own.
